New Caffeinated Energy Drink Crosses The U.S. - Mexican Border, One Can At A Time - Legally
TIJUANA, Mexico, Monday, November 6, 2006/BeverageMarketing/ -- It may sound like a load of bull but a Manhattan beverage firm hopes to turn Mexican migrants into instant New York City marathon runners. If you think the sleepy border town of Tijuana, is nothing more than a tourist trap, hookers and a Mecca for underage drinking, you would be only half right. Its now a training ground for border sprinters, Z CORP recently launched "GreenCard" Energy Drink, a sporty energizing beverage designed for migrants "on-the-run", as a quick pick-me-up before they cross the border. The firm’s Beverly Hills ad agency plans to hire beautiful athletic Mexican woman in green Nike sneakers and tank tops to hand out free samples of the neon green glow-in-the-dark beverages near the Playas-Tijuana bullring "Border Park" to the coyotes and migrants who need to get up to speed for the daily mad dash to the other side.
Z CORP Founder Jeff Weiss says, "GreenCard Energy Drink will give you that extra burst of adrenaline needed to outrun the U.S. Border Patrol, or La Migra to those still willing to cross the border, which will give GreenCard a brand loyalty unique amongst Hispanic energy drinks." Weiss AKA "Dr. Z" got the idea as an accidental tourist after consuming a locally bottled energy drink and suffering a bout of Montezuma’s Revenge. Like many other international travelers who come back from their vacations with an unwanted souvenir: "travelers diarrhea", which is the most common complaint among tourists abroad, diarrhea afflicts 20 to 50 percent of travelers worldwide, a staggering 10 million people a year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. So, Dr. Z came up with the idea to offer a luminescent energy drink that is safe to drink and won’t give you the runs but, instead will help you run faster.

Mexican nationals have been literally "pole vaulting" the U.S.-Mexico border fence for years, it should come as no surprise - that the GreenCard Energy Drink would target such a small niche market, despite night-vision cameras, helicopters and seismic-motion detectors, the success of the U.S. Border Patrol is anybody’s guess. Roughly 10,000 agents are working three shifts 24/7 and are charged with watching the 1,951-mile border with Mexico, from the beach west of Tijuana through Arizona and Texas to the Gulf of Mexico. The beverage will get you up to speed fast and packs a powerful jolt for occasional undocumented "tourist" who are making the trip north. It has the highest legal level of caffeine, with an effect that occurs almost immediately. The e-drink’s controversial tag line says it all: "papers..we don’t need no stinkin’ papers!!".
"Sleep-deprived illegal aliens will soon be skipping "siesta" time and downing cans of this fully caffeinated energy drink for mid-night crossings," says Richard H. Davis, President of Beverage Marketing USA, Inc. "On the border, it’s a game of cat and mouse, and when asked for their green card, they can simply show the Border Patrol an empty can of GreenCard." joked Davis.
